What's the Big Deal With Colored Contact Lenses?

So what exactly is the big deal with colored contact lenses anyways? Well if you can't answer this for yourself, then you probably don't really want a set, you are just curious why others would like to wear them.

The answer to this is simple, they enjoy being different, and having people recognize them for this aspect. To stand out from the crowd is something that everybody yearns for, and having a set of color contact lenses is the best way -- who else is the room has the same eyes as you?

What if you are wearing a set of yellow and red swirls around your pupils, imagine how much attention you would be getting, and how the comments and questions would be rolling in.

What Should I Look Out for With Non Prescription Color Contact lenses?

So I know that you have said that cheap lenses will cause your eyes to water, become blurry, or even become dry and red, but what are things that I can look out for to help me avoid buying a cheap pair of non prescription color contact lenses

Well first, I have to advise you to go through your optometrist, or a true optometrist that you can find on the internet. By using a legitimate eye doctor, you are going to ensure that you're not getting some flea market junk that is going to possibly damage your eyes, sometimes even permanently.

You have to know going into it though, that you are typically going to spend a little more to get a quality set, but it is something that you won't respect until you purchase a cheap set of color contact lenses.

They Really Make Prescription Color Contact Lenses?

If you didn't get the chance to read our last article, yes, there are companies now that really do make prescription color contact lenses.

If you are already prescribed a set of lenses through your optometrist, then you can easily contact them and let them know what you are looking for.  If the eye doctor you are going to doesn't have a catalog, call around to different docs in your area. You are eventually going to find one that has a catalog of the different styles of lenses, and you can probably even place your order with that doctor.

If you can't, or it is too much of a hassle to get your prescription, simply take the design and sku number to your regular optometrist and have them place the order for you.

Have You Heard of Acuvue Color Contact Lenses?

If you already wear prescription contacts, and have been looking into purchasing a new pair of color contact lenses, then there is good news for you. If you haven't heard by now, there are Acuvue color contact lenses that are made to fit your prescription.

They are made by a reputable company that has done the research and development required to properly fit your eye, along with being the right prescription. All too often there are cheap imitations that will cause your eyes to get red, blurry, or watery.

This is why investing the money on a good pair of lenses through a reputable company like Acuvue is recommended, because you aren't going to have the hassles that come with purchasing a cheap set of lenses.

What Are Color Contact Lenses?

So what exactly are color contact lenses? If you are asking this question, you have probably seen someone around you who has a different eye color every day.

The way they are doing it is with colored contact lenses, either prescription, or non prescription, depending on the needs of their eyes. Maybe you have seen someone with a set of 8ball pool balls, sharks eyes, or even whited out eyes with just black pupils? I have seen some crazy designs on these contacts, and for the most part, they are always original.

These lenses aren't all that cheap though, with prices ranging from $50 all the way up to $500 for prescription lenses in a custom film. You would have to special order lenses that expensive though, so most of what you see online and in optometrists offices are usually priced reasonably.

Of course, you can also avail yourself with free colored contact lenses offered by many brands as part of their promotional campaign.
